An Honest Woodcutter – Completing Story for Class 6 to 12

Hello, Students here I share the “An Honest Woodcutter/An Honest Woodcutter and The Beautiful Fairy” completing the story. You can write it on your 6 to 12 class examination. Both Completing Story is the same.

(1) An Honest Woodcutter and The Beautiful Fairy

There lived a woodcutter in a village. One day he was cutting wood near a pond. Suddenly, his axe fell into the pond. The pond was very deep. The woodcutter did not know how to swim or dive. So, he was sitting there sadly. Then a wonderful thing happened. A beautiful fairy appeared before the woodcutter. She asked him why he was looking so sad. The Woodcutter replied sadly that his axe had fallen Into the river. The fairy then showed him an axe made of silver. She asked him if it was his axe. The woodcutter said, “It’s not my axe.” The fairy showed him another axe made of gold. The woodcutter said, “No, it’s not, my axe is made of iron. It was old.” The fairy showed him the lost axe with a wooden handle. The woodcutter then said happily that it was his axe. The fairy became very pleased and gave him the gold and the silver axes too. Then the woodcutter became rich and began to live happily. Moral: Honesty is the best policy.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: এক গ্রামে একজন কাঠুরে বাস করত। একদিন সে এক নদীর পাশে কাঠ কাটছিল। হঠাৎ তার কুড়াল নদীতে পড়ে যায়। নদীটি অনেক গভীর ছিল। কাঠুরেট জানত না কিভাবে সাঁতার কাটতে হয় অথবা ডুব দিতে হয়। তাই সে দুঃখের সাথে বসে ছিল। তারপর এক বিস্ময়কর ঘটনা ঘটল। এক সুন্দরী পরী কাঠুরের সামনে এসে হাজির হয়। সে তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করল কেন তাকে দুঃখী দেখাচ্ছে। কাঠুরে দুঃখের সাথে উত্তর দিল যে তার কুড়াল নদীতে পড়ে গেছে। তারপর পরী তাকে রূপার তৈরি একটা কুড়াল দেখাল। সে তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করল এটা তার কিনা। কাঠুরে বলল, “এটা আমার না।” পরী তাকে স্বর্ণের তৈরি আরেকটি কুড়াল দেখাল। কাঠুরে বলল, না, এটা নয়, আমার কুড়াল লোহার তৈরি। এটা পুরাতন ছিল।” পরী তাকে তার ভাঙ্গা হাতলের হারানো কুড়ালটা দেখাল। কাঠুরে খুশির সাথে বলল যে এটা আমার কুড়াল। পল্লী সন্তুষ্ট হয়ে তাকে স্বর্ণের এবং রুপার কুড়ালটাও দিয়ে দিল। তারপর কাঠুরে ধনী হয়ে সুখের সাথে বসবাস করতে লাগল।

নীতি কথা: সততাই সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট পন্থা।

 

(2) An Honest Woodcutter and The Beautiful Fairy

There lived a woodcutter in a village. One day he was cutting wood in the jungle near a river. Suddenly his axe fell into the river. The river was very deep. The woodcutter did not know how to swim or dive. So, he was sitting there sadly. He was very poor and he had not the money to buy a new axe. He was thinking about what to do. He was very depressed and blamed his lot. Suddenly, a wonderful incident happened. He heard a voice and saw a fairy before him. The fairy asked him why he was sad. He told her everything. The fairy felt pity for him. She went into the river and came back with a golden axe. She asked the woodcutter if it was his axe. The woodcutter replied in the negative. She then again went into the water and returned with a silver one. This time also the wood-cutter refused to take it. Finally, she brought the axe of the woodcutter from the water. The woodcutter was delighted to get back his iron axe. The fairy became very pleased with the woodcutter for his honesty and gave him the two other valuable axes as a reward. Honesty is thus always rewarded.
